Mission

Improvement of product development and manufacturing efficiency and development of new product concepts by applying new modeling, design and manufacturing methods.

Our main method to accomplish our mission is to realize constructive research projects. Most of the projects are application oriented and cooperated with industries. Within the projects new methods for product development and manufacturing have been researched and developed. As well new product and service concepts have been resulted.

Key feature in our project policy is to study and investigate globally leading edge technologies. Based on these studies we choose our own focus development areas and themes. By following this policy we are able to serve our partners by offering a mixture of technology transfer, application, and development projects.

Research Focus

Our research focus is in new information technology based product modeling and design systems and methods. An other focus area is Rapid Manufacturing (also called as Additive Layer Manufacturing, Solid Freeform Fabrication, eManufacturing). Logical interface between these two focus areas is mathematically exact 3D product model which is needed for rapid manufacturing applications.

In product modeling area our latest scientific innovations have been in the area of implementing new type of product model based service business concepts. In rapid manufacturing area we have lately innovated new methods for sheet metal component manufacturing and developed a set of new technologies for rapid manufacturing medical applications. Medical applications of rapid manufacturing technologies and rapid manufacturing concepts as production paradigm will be our near future focus areas in this field.
